        摘要：This paper presents four kinds of common SDH network topological structures,i. e. linear,ring,star and meshed. Functions of three kinds of basic network elements （OLTE, ADM, DXC） and SDH synchronous frame structure are explained. Finally, transition mode from PDH to SDH is discussed.

        摘要：This paper analyzes the special features of ATM （Asynchronous Transfer Mode） and explores several promising technologies which can be used to enhance the survivability of communication .networks, such as promptly detecting failures, backup VP （Virtual Path） with zero bandwidth and multi-link transmission concept etc. Considerations concerned with pratical applications are also discussed at last.

        摘要：In this article,the basic concept of bit error and the mechanism of occurance are introduced. The distribution of bit error is analyzed. Referring to ITU-T Rec.G. 826,methods of bit error measurement for the fiber-optic communication system are discussed based on the block principle.

        摘要：The analytical solutions of electromagnetic wave equations for elliptical optical waveguide are studied and the mode field distribution is presented. The mode characteristic equations are derived. Circular waveguide is only a special case of elliptical waveguide. The numerical solution for the characteristic equation of first-higher-order mode is obtained. The variations of the effective refractive index as a function of the normalized frequency for various values of the core aspect ratio are presented. As the core aspect ratio increases,the normalized cutoff frequency of the first-higher-order mode decreases.

        摘要：In this paper, a novel practical 1. 31/1. 55μm SM fiber wavelength division multiplexer（WDM） with high performace is reported. The device fabrication is mainly based on the fused taper coupler/optical filter hybrid technology. The optical specifications and environmental test results of this component are discussed. The specification requirements for WDM components are also analyzed.
