The paper presents briefly the current development trends in several aspects of the switching systems technology used in the broadband integrated network. They include the distributed switching architecture
the application of asynchronous transfer mode
the wireless access of personal communication service
the intraduction of photonics to broadband switching
and the choice of switching system for multimedia applications.
