The timing jitter induced by pointer adjustments represents a technical problem in SDH based network.Because of the characteristics of its large amplitude and low frequency

the result of reducing jitter is unsatisfied using usual way. A new method of pointer spreading——double period leaking and modulating desynchronizer is proposed in this paper.The effect on reducing jitter is obvious and its curcuit is simple.
