the principle of the stress corrosion and fatigue resistance of the optical fiber is described. Two approaches to the realization of the reliability of mechanical properties in making fatigueproof optical fibers have been given. The former is to reduce the stress from the fiber by using the compressive cladding technique
the latter is to isolate the fiber from the atmospheric environment by using the hermetical technique. The perspectives of the application of fatigueproof fibers are also described.
