Abstract
It is experimentally proved that the technique of depositing hermetic carbon coatings on surface of optical fiber during drawing process can avoid optical fiber attenu- ation and strength degradation caused by hydrogen and water.Under conditions of rising temperature and hydrogen pressure
when the carbon-coated optical fiber is exposed to hydrogen atmosphere
the optical fiber attenuation characteristics are related to hydro- gen
or th OH formed by the reaction between defects in silica and hydrogen. At the range of 100~150℃
hydrogen diffusion model is
in this paper
described by using the solubility and diffusion coefficient of hydrogen in carbon as well as cylindrical classic dif- fusion theory.
