Abstract

OTN（Optical Transport Network）is developed with the progress of WDM technology. The standard G.709 （interface for the OTN） was proposed by ITU-T in 2001.Digital wrapper technology was adopted in the recommendation. The frame structure was defined and FEC technology was introduced in the standard too. The frame structure was analysised and the theory of FEC was introduced in this paper.Digital wrapper technology was used in the design of optical transponder unit. The benefits of using FEC technology were verified by experiment.
