Abstract

The disadvantages of silica fibers used in FTTH are analyzed and the latest research results of plastic fibers

devices and systems in the developed countries introduced.As it has good cost-performance

the perfluorinated polymer graded index plastic fiber is finding applications in FTTH.Now

the properties

mainly attenuation and dispersion

of FTTH-used plastic fibers can be clearly discriminated.Finally

a number of typical examples of plastic-fiber-connected intelligent home single-channel WDM fiber-optic communication systems are given.
