Abstract

In view of the severe attenuation of optical signals in atmospheric channels

we propose a simulation model for Turbo code system constructed by using Simulink and compare its BER performance with those of the simulation systems without using the channel coding scheme and with the convolutional coding scheme. The results demonstrate the superiorities of Turbo code in wireless optical transmissions in terms of low BER and provide a theoretical basis for its applications in these systems.
