the modulation and demodulation principles for the coherent Differential Phase Shift Keying(DPSK)are briefly introduced and theoretical analysis of three coherent demodulation modes
i.e.homodyne
heterodyne and Mach-Zehnder Interference(MZI)demodulations
is made.Using Matlab and Optisystem simulation software
a DPSK modulationbased Free Space Optical(FSO)communication system is built
the effects on the system BER performance under different conditions obtained and the three demodulation modes simulated. The simulation results show that homodyne coherent detection with better BER performance is most suitable for FSO.
