Study on Optical Power Splitting Technique based on Silicon Metasurfaces(Invited)
metasurfaces show unique optical properties and many interesting physical phenomena. It is expected that the ability of manipulating the optical wave can be improved by using metasurfaces based optoelectronic devices. In this paper
a new type of optical power splitting scheme based on silicon-based metasurfaces is proposed in optical fiber communication system. The results show that the cross-polarization conversion efficiency with phase delay exceeds 90% while the useless co-polarization conversion efficiency can be compressed into 1.2% within wavelength range of 1 458

593 nm by optimizing the unit nanostructure of the silicon-based metasurfaces. In addition
the coupling effect between the adjacent silicon nanobricks is studied in order to reduce their influences on the phase precision. Finally
four different optical power splitting patterns are realized and verified by simulations. The proposed optical power splitting technique based on metasurfaces has the advantages of compact size
high efficiency
polarization-state insensitive
broadband response
flexible design
and compatibility with semiconductor manufacturing process
which can achieve ultra-dense

and intelligent power distribution for the optical communications in the future.
