Exploration on the Time Domain Hybrid Modulation Technique for Enhancing Protected Capacity of Optical Networks
Time Domain Hybrid Modulation(TDHM)can significantly improve the spectrum efficiency and capacity of optical channel in optical networks.Based on the Shared Backup Path Protection(SBPP)
in Wavelength Division Multiplexing(WDM)network
we combine the TDHM technique with Routing and Wavelength Assignment(RWA)
and propose a novel optimal path pair strategy.Simulation studies indicates that
compared with traditional k-shortest path strategy
our new approach can increase the protected network capacity up to 30%
which verifies the efficiency of TDHM technique in terms of improving the transmission capacity in optical networks.
