Abstract

In this paper

generation methods of ps optical pulse from semiconductor laser diodes are summarized. These methods include mode-locking

gain-switching

electrical feedback

optoelectronic feedback and Q-switching etc. State-of-the-art and the future prospect of the various technologies for generating optical pulse are also introduced.
