Abstract

In this paper the basic physical process

mathematical statistics

the effects of finite register length and trigger phase jitter

and the basic performance evaluation in digital averaging estimation processing techniques are discussed in detail for the application in the optical time-domain reflective measurements. Meanwhile it is demonstrated with the data of an example that the performances of digital averaging estimation processing techniques employing 16-bit word length minicomputer are far more better than the boxcar averager analog processing techniques.
