Abstract

The schematic

gain bandwidth performance and noise figure of distributed Raman amplifier are introduced first. Impact of Raman+EDFA hybrid amplifier on system performance are described then. Several problems on optical transmission system design are indicated. Raman amplifier application is presented at last.
