In this article

the manufacturing system of microstructure optical fibers was set up

furthermore the feasible technical route for producing microstructure optical fibers was basically formed. Using this technology

we have manufactured total internal reflection（TIR） microstructure optical fibers. The TIR fibers have 9.5 μm core diameter

9.8 μm effective diameter air hole

and distance between the center of two holes is 12.3 μm

the hydroxyl absorption peak of 1 385 nm is 0.106 dB/m

the attenuation at （1 550 nm） is 0.008 dB/m. From the photos of the microstructure optical fiber obtained by microscope and through CCD sampling to computer

we could find that the air holes are distributed uniformly

the micro-holes lattices are just hexagon on the whole.
