Fiber-optic flowmeter is a new type of flowmeter based on optical signals. When optical signals are transported in optical fibers
their intensity
phase
wavelength and other parameters are changed due to the effects of the flow
the size of which can be determined by measuring the relative changes of the signals. This paper describes the operating principles and features of several types of fiber-optic flowmeters
makes comparative analysis of their merits and demerits and proposes appropriate improvement schemes.
