Abstract

As Ethernet Passive Optical Network（EPON）is one of the most effective ways for broadband access

it is important to set up a stable and effective network management system. This paper gives a brief description of the EPON structure and presents the design plan for SNMP-based Network Management System（NMS）

taking into consideration the functions of configuration management

performance management

fault management and security management. Then it introduces Web server-based GUI for the system and explains its respective software realization at the manager and the agent.
