On the basis of the theoretical model for the alignment of single-mode optical fiber array with the planar optical waveguide

simulations of two position search methods

i.e.hill climbing method and pattern search method

commonly used in accurate alignment processes are conducted.The results indicate that the maximum optical power value can be faster searched by the pattern search method and the convergence of the algorithm is significantly higher than by the hill climbing method.
