Harmonic and intermodulation distortions may be resulted from the transmission of multi-channel RF analog signals on multimode fiber-optic links. In this paper
the factors causing composite second-order distortions are analyzed and thus the spectrum characteristic of the received power obtained on the basis of deducing the expressions of the harmonic and intermodulation distortions in multimode fiber-optic links. The results show that multi-channel RF signals can be transmitted over short or middle-range multimode fiber-optic links by using the subcarrier multiplexing technology when the composite second-order distortion value is below-50 dBc.
