head compression in layer two can gain considerable transmission bandwidth with a minimum overhead.In view of the distribution and features of data transmission in communication systems

this paper proposes an MAC/IP joint head compression algorithm appropriate for Point-to-Multipoint（P2MP） communication architecture and gives a concrete module design scheme for and realization of such a compression on the basis of this algorithm.
