At present

PON-based FTTx optical access networks are growing rapidly.However

they are facing enormous challenges in terms of maintenance and management and urgently require efficient network maintenance and management tools

especially the methods for service acceptance and fault diagnosis.Starting from the key issues to be tackled in network maintenance and management

this paper briefly analyzes the functional requirements for the integrated test systems for optical access networks and

on this basis

presents the test architecture scheme appropriate for the PON technology-based FTTx optical access networks.
