The core node is a key device of optical switching networks and its performances have a direct bearing on the main indexes of the switching networks such as throughput and latency. This paper presents a wavelength converter-based strictly nonblocking switching core node structure and on this basis proposes three scheduling algorithms. Then it verifies their correctness by numerical analysis and experimental simulation and examines the variations of their blocking rates in different scenes
such as with or without wavelength conversions and service priority considerations. It is concluded that the proposed structure has fairly low blocking rate.
