Study on Optical Communications adheres to internationally recognized publishing ethics guidelines Based on the relevant guidelines published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), combined with the actual situation of this journal, we have formulated the ethical statement of the journal. The editors, authors, and reviewers of this journal should fulfill the following responsibilities and also adhere to other relevant regulations and requirements of Study on Optical Communications:

 

1. Responsibilities of Authors

1) The original results of research should be honestly presented without any academic misconduct such as plagiarism, data fabrication, multiple submissions, or duplicate publication.

2) The content of the manuscript should fall within the scope of Study on Optical Communications, and the submission format should meet the manuscript formatting requirements stated in the web page of “Writing Guide” to facilitate peer review. Original data or source code should be provided when necessary.

3) All authors listed should meet the journal's authorship criteria and take responsibility for the article. Authorship criteria: All authors must have made substantial contributions to the research or relevant work of the article, which includes conceptualization and design of the study, acquisition of research data, analysis and interpretation of data, drafting the article, or critically revising important intellectual content.

4) Changes to authorship: If any changes to the authorship information are needed, the corresponding author must explain the reasons for the change and provide a confirmation letter from all authors agreeing to the change to the editorial department. In cases of adding or removing authors, the confirmation letter should also include the confirmation from the author being added or removed. After the final version of the accepted manuscript is confirmed by the authors, the author information cannot be modified.

5) Proper citation is required, and it is the authors' responsibility to provide literature relevant to the manuscript. If the research is funded, the full name of the funding project should be provided.

6) Ensuring that any research involving humans and animals complies with national, local, and institutional ethical requirements and obtains approval from relevant ethics committees.

7) During submission, authors can recommend or request the avoidance of specific reviewers.

8) If errors are identified in a published article, the editorial department should be promptly notified, and cooperation should be provided for publishing corrections or retracting the article.

9) Authors have the responsibility to declare their individual contributions and conflicts of interest. All authors should fill out and sign the form of “Conflict of Interest Statement & Author Contribution Statement” (available in the Download page). The purpose is to confirm that each author has made substantial contributions to the article, to prevent nominal authors, and to ensure that all conflicts of interest related to the research are clearly disclosed. When financial/personal/affiliations of authors (or their institutions/employers) could influence their decisions, work, or manuscript, potential conflicts of interest exist. If certain products are mentioned in the manuscript, authors should also disclose whether there are conflicts of interest with competing products.

 

2. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors of the journal should:

1) Send manuscripts to the editorial board members of relevant research fields through the Editorial System. Based on the recommendations of the editorial board members, send the manuscripts to the reviewers and compile the reviewers' comments to be sent back to the editorial board members for making decision: acceptance, acceptance with revisions, re-review after revisions, or rejection. Send the provisionally accepted manuscripts to the Editor-in-Chief for final review.

2) During the review process, avoid reviewers who have conflicts of interest with the author and, if reasonable, honor the authors' requests to avoid specific reviewers.

3) The editorial department has the authority to make independent decisions regarding acceptance or rejection of manuscripts but cannot make these decisions on personal opinions of the editor. Once a decision has been made, it should not be changed unless serious errors or academic misconduct are found.

4) Treat submissions for special issues, invited contributions, and other manuscripts equally, and make acceptance decisions based solely on academic criteria, uninfluenced by other factors.

5) For accepted manuscripts, provide authors with comprehensive, detailed, and clear revision suggestions. Promptly respond to any appeals raised by authors, engage in effective communication until a consensus is reached.

6) Utilize the CNKI Academic Misconduct Detection System to identify and prevent academic misconduct such as plagiarism or multiple submissions.

7) For published articles with issues of academic misconduct, collect evidence, conduct investigations, and based on the severity of errors or academic misconduct, decide on issuing corrections or retracting the article, and publish a statement on the journal.

8) Maintain confidentiality of manuscript content and data before publication.

9) Timely publish the electronic version of the accepted articles on the journal website for open access and also upload them in databases such as CNKI, Wanfang Data, etc.

10) Treat authors, reviewers, and editorial board members fairly, impartially, and objectively, while maintaining friendly communication with all parties involved.

11) Promptly respond to inquiries from readers, authors, or any other individuals, and keep records of typical questions for future reference.

12) Protect the personal information of authors and reviewers, update it in a timely manner, and continuously invite new reviewers to participate in peer review.

13) Continuously attract authors to submit manuscripts, invite high-quality contributions, maintain active contact with the editorial board members, and hold regular editorial board meetings.

14) After the publication of an article, provide the authors with complimentary copies of the journal and send the author remuneration.

 

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers of the journal should:

1) Provide timely, objective, fair, detailed, and clear review comments, including a clear and reasonable recommendation for acceptance or rejection, as well as specific suggestions for revisions to the authors.

2) Alert the editor to potential conflicts of interest (e.g., financial, institutional, or others that may cause confusion or conflicts).

3) Notify the editor if there is excessive similarity between the manuscript under review and published or submitted articles.

4) Disclosure of manuscript information is prohibited. Reviewers should not use the content and data of the reviewed manuscript before its publication.

5) Conduct anonymous peer review, keeping their identities hidden from the authors.

 

4. Responsibilities of Editorial Board Members

The EBMs of the journal should:

1) Strictly adhere to the mission of the journal and faithfully execute the decisions of the editorial board.

2) Complete review tasks diligently and punctually.

3) Actively write and recommend high-quality manuscripts for the journal.

4) Promptly provide suggestions for journal improvement to the editorial board and actively promote the journal and invite contributions.

 

5. Responsibilities of the Sponsor

1) Study on Optical Communications is governed by China Information Communication Technologies Group Co., Ltd. and sponsored by Wuhan Research Institute of Post and Telecommunications Co., Ltd. The sponsor should support the journal in adhering to academic publishing ethics and publish articles in a timely, accurate, fair, and just manner, providing an excellent platform for academic exchanges in the field of optical communications.

2) The sponsor should not interfere in the decision-making process for any manuscript.

3) The website of Study on Optical Communications (http://www.gtxyj.com.cn) provides open access to all published content.

 

6. Handling of Academic Misconduct

Study on Optical Communications strongly opposes any form of academic misconduct. Authors submitting to this journal must confirm the originality of their manuscript content. Additionally, they should ensure that their article has not been published completely or partially in any other language elsewhere and is not undergoing review elsewhere for the purpose of publication. In the event of plagiarism, data fabrication, multiple submissions, duplicate publication, or other forms of academic misconduct, the manuscript will be rejected, and the author's institution and relevant journals in the field will be notified. The author will also be barred from future submissions to this journal.

 

7. Correction and Retraction

Correction: If there are unintentional scientific errors in an article that do not significantly affect the results or conclusions, the editorial department will promptly publish a correction notice in the journal, providing a detailed explanation of the corrections made to the original article and citing the source of the article. The corrected version of the article will be published, clearly indicating the changes made and the date of correction. The pre-correction version will also be archived and made available to readers. However, when citing the article, readers should reference the latest version.

Retraction: The editorial department will retract an article under the following circumstances:

1) When there are severe scientific errors in the article that render the results and conclusions unreliable.

2) For articles suspected of academic misconduct, such as plagiarism or data fabrication, the editorial department will initiate an investigation and publish a statement informing readers of the potential risks associated with the article. The results of the investigation will be made public. If academic misconduct is confirmed, the editorial department will retract the article and publish a retraction statement.

 

8. Discussion of Published Articles

We welcome authors and readers to engage in discussions regarding the articles published in the journal. Comments can be sent to our email (gtxyj.wri@qq.com), and the editorial department will process and provide feedback as appropriate. The journal encourages readers and authors to actively supervise and provide relevant information to foster a healthy academic environment.

 

9. Advertising

The journal's advertising business includes product introductions, corporate profiles, and technical, market, and economic information related to the fields of optical communication and optoelectronics.

Advertising requirements: Advertisers should ensure the authenticity of the advertising content. The journal will verify the relevant supporting documents and check the advertising content in accordance with the Advertising Law and other relevant laws and regulations. Advertisements that do not conform to the actual content or have incomplete supporting documents will not be published.

The advertisements are mainly published on the cover, inside front cover, inside back cover, and back cover of the paper journal, separated from the content of the academic articles published in the journal. The acceptance of all advertisements will be discussed and collectively decided during the editorial department's meetings.

The journal firmly declares that the advertisements published in the journal are completely separate from the academic articles, and the publication of advertisements will not influence the editorial or acceptance decisions for any submissions to the journal.
